Natick Scoopapalooza: Turns out there was pent-up demand

August 29, 2021 by Bob Brown 2 Comments

A huge crowd, unfazed by a 1-week weather delay and 1-year pandemic delay, turned out for the Scoopapalooza ice cream event on Natick Common this Sunday.

Ice creams fans young, old, and in-between queued up for a wide variety of flavors served by volunteers, including military personnel.

I no sooner got there and witnessed the 5-second rule in action, as a young boy scooped his pink plastic spoon off the ground and went about his eating.

Some ate their ice cream to kill time in line awaiting more ice cream.

Others sprawled on the grass to savor theirs more slowly.

Pups eyed the ice cream and more than one got a lick in at the frosty treats.

Some patrons started working off the ice cream right on the spot, bouncing away the calories.

The Charles River Rotary Club‘s event raised funds for scholarships for Keefe Tech Seniors pursuing a career in the trades, other youth scholarships, the Natick Service Council and Natick Food Pantry, and other local service programs.

    Bob,
Thanks for your wonderful writeup on our Charles River Rotary Scoopapalooza! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I was so glad to see the crowds and everyone enjoying the event.
If you’d like to visit the club, please let us know. We’re looking for new members and meet Thursday mornings at 7:30-8:30 am on Zoom and at JJ Lane Park, depending on weather. Our web site is http://www.crrclub.org

Looks like this was another great Scoopapalooza! Wish we could have been there to help and eat ice cream. It is great to see so many people come out and gather in the open air on Natick common and for such worthy causes, too.
