Natick business buzz: Salon Verde opens in magic location

December 29, 2022 by Bob Brown 1 Comment

Framingham native Ada Morgan saw an article (probably ours?) over the summer about Robin Galante retiring after 45 years on the job at the Shear Magic salon in Natick, and had this thought:

“How cool is that? She’s from Framingham, a woman and a business owner. She’s worked hard for many years! And now she has the ability to enjoy the rest of her life, spending time with her grandkids—fishing and having fun at the cape! I thought to myself, ‘So that’s going to be me one day!'”

A familiar face herself on the Metrowest salon scene for more than 2 decades, Morgan was well aware of Shear Magic, driving by the 2 Mill St. business most days. When she learned the space had become available, she says “all of a sudden sparks were flying over my head! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION, I thought. I knew the space was the perfect size with great visibility and tons of parking. I quickly had to get in touch before someone else did. The race was on!”

Morgan had been looking for a space to open a salon for about a year, but high rents were a serious challenge.

Morgan found that she had some friends in common in with Shear Magic’s Galante and connected with her via Facebook to learn whether the Mill Street space was available. It was, a lease was signed, and Natick’s Salon Verde was on its way to becoming a reality.

The salon gets its name from its green (“verde” in Spanish) theme, which Morgan says is designed to be bright and airy, with “a relaxed, easy-going contemporary vibe.”

Getting the space was one thing, but renovating it was another given the cost of construction. So Morgan and her family—husband John and children Hannah, John Jr., and Charles—turned it into an “all hands on deck” do-it-themselves project. “Long story short, we now know how to build a board and batten wall thanks to Pinterest,” she says. With all the work they put into it, Morgan says she expects to be in the space for a long time.

Morgan says she’s “super excited” to keep the Shear Magic space a salon. “I love Natick and my location is fabulous. I couldn’t be happier. I really lucked out and I’m totally excited for the opportunity to beautify the Natick community one blow out at a time!”

Salon Verde’s range of services includes everything from a simple trim and blowout to a full makeover. You can reach Salon Verde online through its website or by calling  (774) 615-6059.
