The Natick Police Department has posted on social media that it was paid a visit on Friday by the CBS “60 Minutes” crew to film a segment on the department’s involvement in the 2019-2020 investigation into cyberstalking and harassment of 2 Natick publishers by eBay employees.
Sgt. Jason Sutherland and Detective John Haswell, key members of the investigation team, will be featured in the segment to be aired at a date to be determined.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts announced in October that two former eBay security executives had been sentenced to prison for their roles in a bizarre 2019 scheme intended to put a Natick couple out of business for publishing content in their eCommerceBytes newsletter that eBay employees deemed critical of the online marketplace. Charges included stalking, witness tampering, destruction and falsification of records, and more.
A civil suit by the Steiners vs. eBay and its leaders is pending.
