Scholarship deadlines coming up for Natick students

February 28, 2023 by Deborah Brown Leave a Comment

You don’t need us to tell you that a college education is expensive. Here are a few organizations that are looking to defray the costs for eligible students.

Don’t see your group’s scholarship information listed here? Contact natickreport@gmail.com for inclusion.

Natick High School

Organization: MathWorks

Application deadline: March 20, 2023

MathWorks is funding two $10K scholarships for Natick residents who are high school seniors committed to studying engineering, mathematics, science or related programs at an accredited four-year college or university. The $10,000 is spread out over four years, rising from $1K to $4K over the span.

Applications are currently available. They may also be obtained during regular business hours at the Office of the Select Board in Natick Town Hall, 13 East Central Street, Natick MA 01760. All applications are due to the Select Board’s Office no later than 5pm on Monday, March 20, 2023. Questions should be directed to: Gregg Cohen, Scholarship Chair, at (508) 667-6470 or gregglcohen@gmail.com

Organization: Greater Framingham Running Club

Application deadline: March 31, 2023

Natick High School student-athletes are among those eligible for two $500 scholarships sponsored by the Greater Framingham Running Club.

The scholarships will be presented to local high school runners who plan to attend either a two or four-year accredited college or university and who also intend to run cross-country, track or recreationally while in college.  The winning applicants must exemplify dedication, leadership, running talent, commitment and academic achievement. That is, the award will not necessarily go to the runners in the greater Framingham area with the most success in running, but the track or cross-country team members who have always been committed and consistently work hard to persevere, combined with academic achievement.

Applications are available now and are due by March 31, 2023.

Organization: Natick Sons and Daughters of Italy

Application deadline: March 31, 2023

The Natick Sons and Daughters of Italy has been awarding educational scholarships for over 50 years. Since 2014 they have awarded approximately $60,000 in Lodge and family scholarships. In 2022, Natick Sons & Daughters of Italy awarded $10,000 to ten local senior high graduates. The civic group presents the Francesco DeSanctis Lodge #1411 award and the Francis J. Cristofori Scholarship award on behalf of Mr. Mark Cristofori.

Here’s a link to the application.

Organization: Middlesex Savings Bank

To be eligible for the A. James Lavoie Scholarship, applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement. They must also plan to attend a four-year college program, and graduate from one of the many public, charter, or vocational high schools in the communities the bank serves. The winner is selected from among eligible applicants by an independent committee on the basis of strength and quality of submitted essays.

The application period for the 2023  A. James Lavoie Scholarship is now open.
