The Natick Select Board made short work of its meeting on Wednesday night, but it accomplished a great deal in swearing in the town’s newly elected and re-elected officials from Tuesday’s election, and bidding farewell to 6-year Select Board member Michael Hickey.
After fellow Select Board members shared kind words—and hugs—with Hickey, he gathered his belongings and left the meeting, noting that this was a night for the newly elected. He was lauded for his thoughtfulness, willingness to spar with fellow members, bringing to meetings the voices of those who don’t always speak up, and his sense of humor.
Newly elected Select Board member Kristen Pope, who had a strong showing of friends and family at the standing-room-only meeting, took her new seat, and incumbent Rich Sidney reassumed his chair.
The Board reorganized as well, with Bruce Evans voted by the Board to be the new chair, replacing Paul Joseph. Kathryn Couglin was voted in as vice chair.
