Financially struggling Christmas Tree Shops is reportedly getting ready to close all of its stores, including the one that’s long had its logo on the main Sherwood Plaza sign on Rte. 9. The Wall Street Journal reports that the business couldn’t repay its loans after filing for bankruptcy protection in May.
The retailer, which in a clear cry for help converted its recognizable name to the acronym CTS last year, had issued chipper press releases in recent months about its prospects (“To help us ensure a long and bright future, on May 5, 2023, the Company filed for Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware….”)
Christmas Tree Shop’s Sherwood Plaza space had already been shrunken to make way for grocery store MOM’s Organic Market.
