High School girls soccer to play in state title game

The top-seeded Natick High girls soccer team kept rolling this week in its Division 1 semi-final game vs. Brookline with a 5-2 victory at BC High. The Redhawks struck early on a beautiful, bending corner kick from Abby McCauley, and secured a 3-2 lead at the half. Natick extended the lead between then and the end of the game.

Next up: Bishop Feehan, which squeaked into the finals with a 1-0 win over Hopkinton. The title game vs. the No. 1 and 2 teams in the tournament (see bracket) takes place on Nov. 18 in Walpole at 2pm. Tickets cost $11.50 and are available online.

Natick youth cheer team aims for nationals

The Natick 12U cheer team (9, 10-, and 11-year-olds) has had a season to remember at cheer competitions and youth football games. The cheer team recently finished first at the local competition, then third in the state. This Sunday, Nov. 19, the team will be in Durham, N.H., to complete in the AYC New England Regional Cheer Championships.
An online fundraiser has been launched to help defray travel and competition costs.
Fundraising organizer Kim Mazzola says the team, if it qualifies for nationals in Florida in December, would be one of only two Natick youth cheer teams to do so two years in a row.
