Business buzz: Metroworks closing its Natick Common location; Getting in Halloween Spirit

July 31, 2025 by Bob Brown

The latest Natick, Mass., business news:

Metroworks closing its Natick Common location

metroworksThe Metroworks coworking and meeting location at 31 South Main St. (across from Natick Common) is shutting down effective the end of July 31, according to owner Paul Joseph.

Metroworks will continue to operate at its original location at 1 South Main St., 2nd floor, near the Natick Center commuter rail station. That site is being upgraded with new equipment from the Common space. Metroworks has been in business, first as Natick Coworking, for more than 10 years.

The prominent Natick Common location is closing for several reasons, including that many member businesses and individuals have been affected by the economic volatility and uncertainty. What’s more, Joseph is heading back to school in the fall at Babson College.

The Natick Common location opened in December 2022 and Joseph said it was “especially great as a ‘convening place’ for not only businesses, but for the community, which I found especially valuable for reconnecting members of the community in-person, coming out of the pandemic lockdown.” The Natick Common location was designed as a space for local entrepreneurs, coworkers, community members, and aspiring “side hustlers,” he said.

“I’m proud that since its inception in 2015, the two Metroworks locations have provided a local launch pad for Attestiv (IT/AI), Nixie Beverages (expanding to East Coast), JucaBio (pharma accelerator), One Autism Health (app for Autism care), Ankored (software) , THYNK (video game for cognitive health/focus), Lynch Research Associates (youth development), and most recently Abodio, among others,” Joseph said.

The sites have also hosted hundreds of meetings in person and online for many other organizations. Among them, the Coffee with a Purpose group, which earlier this week had Joseph as a guest to discuss Metroworks, community and economic development, AI, and more.

Getting in Halloween Spirit

Rising from the ashes of the Joann fabrics & craft store that closed earlier this year on Rte. 9 east in Natick will be a Spirit Halloween store, which in years past has emerged in other spots, such as Sherwood Plaza.
