Natick borders evil Ardham in HBO’s Lovecraft Country TV series

August 20, 2020 by Bob Brown Leave a Comment

We haven’t seen HBO’s new Lovecraft Country series based on a novel that draws from the writings of H.P. Lovecraft and whose characters struggle against a racist society as well as monsters.

But reader Christine Roberts, whose Dad grew up in Natick, shared this screenshot from the show indicating that Natick and South Natick are right on the edge of Ardham, the epicenter of evil on the show. “In the Lovecraft stories, Arkham [Ardham in the show] is an approximation of Salem,” she says.

Whether Natick will rate a mention, well, we guess you’ll need to tune in.

Blame COVID-19: Natick Days canceled for 2020

June 10, 2020 by Bob Brown Leave a Comment

The town of Natick has announced that its annual Natick Days community event featuring big trucks, food, music and other fun has been nixed for 2020 due to the COVIDd-19 pandemic. It’s usually held in September.

Recreation & Parks Director Karen Partanen, who has already been the bearer of bad news about the fate of summer camps in town, spoke briefly at the Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday, June 8.

The cancellation was made “after lengthy discussion and pondering, and talking about all the unknowns and phasing,” she said.

TCAN annual meeting goes virtual on June 3

June 3, 2020 by Bob Brown Leave a Comment

(Update: Meeting video embedded below)

The Center for the Arts in Natick (TCAN) invites members, donors, sponsors and patrons to its livestreamed annual meeting on June 3 at 7pm.

While TCAN’s in-person events have been scrapped of late due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization has been offering livestreamed concerts and films. It continues to schedule in-person events as well in hopes that the health crisis subsides.

At its annual meeting, TCAN leaders will  “reflect on the accomplishments of the previous year and share plans for the future.”

If they know the future, we’re all ears…
