Natick Business Buzz: Baylee Bee clothing opens; Pop-ups ready; Italian handbags 50% off; MutualOne Bank lobby change

November 27, 2020 by Bob Brown 1 Comment

Our roundup of the latest Natick, Mass., business news:

Baylee Bee clothing store opens

Mother-and-daughter team Debbie and Baylee Donovan have joined forces to open Baylee Bee at 19 North Main Street in downtown Natick, located in the former Spirit Bear Power Yoga space. Debbie says, “Our main vibe is cozy, comfortable clothing. We’re all home now. Traditional business attire is not what people are adding to their closets at this time.”

Baylee Bee, Natick

Baylee, a graduate of  Dean College in Franklin, sporting a casual 3/4 length teddy jacket with incredible cozy cred, was busy scouring the internet to source belts for the store’s inventory. A customer had asked that the store carry some, and it was a task too fun to ignore. Baylee Bee also carries what they call “Zoom dresses,” in a selection of prints. affordable. Everything is at an affordable price point. Nothing in the store is over $100.

I personally find it encouraging that people want to start wearing belts again. Mine are somewhere in the closet, probably near the heels and the hosiery.

Until such a time that such relics come out of the closet, I’m prepared to adopt Baylee Bee’s philosophy that style is equal parts fashion and function but without the fuss, and belts should be included. I’m feeling ready to re-belt as my slipped standards start to regain their traction. Baylee has had a positive style effect on me that way.

Pro tip: don’t miss the super-fun bee wall mural by artist Linden Walker.

Pop-ups ready

A bevy of retailers will soon be selling their wares at a pop-up shop on Washington Street in Natick Center formally occupied by an insurance firm.

Among those that will be offering goods:

  • Birchhouse Botanicals
  • BXB by Jenny Buxton
  • Fiorella Soapery
  • Rooted in Glass
  • Tin Box Jewelry

Natick Business Buzz: Pot shop finalists; Neiman Marcus closing; new charging stations

September 1, 2020 by Admin Leave a Comment

Our roundup of the latest Natick, Mass. business news:

Pot shop finalists

Natick has whittled down the list of eight applicants to open recreational marijuana shops in town to three, which will now have a chance to spin their stories in public meetings at times to be determined.

The final 3 are:

C3 (42 Worcester St.): Public meeting Sept. 21

Cypress Tree (321 Speen St., at Cloverleaf Mall): Public meeting Sept. 24

Revolutionary Clinics (6 Worcester St., currently Nine East Wine Emporium): Public meeting Sept. 17

Once the finalists are selected, it will probably be spring before all licensing is settled and shops can open.

Separately, a medical marijuana  facility called Bountiful Farms and a testing lab called Kaycha Labs seek to open in Natick.

Neiman Marcus closing at mall

The Natick Mall is losing yet another anchor tenant, as high-end fashion retailer Neiman Marcus is shuttering its Natick store, bringing its total to 22 store closures.

The retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May as the COVID-19 crisis sunk in.

The Mall has been losing tenants left and right. Among the others: the Microsoft Store, Lord & Taylor, and Sears.

One sign of hope is a plan for Night Shift Brewing and a newcomer called Level 99 to join forces in opening an immersive gaming (and drinking) establishnent.
