The latest Natick, Mass., business news:
Wegmans clearing out
Those visiting Wegmans at Natick Mall in recent days are reporting that the end appears to be even nearer than first imagined when the supermarket disclosed plans to shutter its store at this location at an unspecified date “later this summer.” Wegmans execs said it was tough to attract enough customers to the unusual location, though apparently maintenance and upkeep were a challenge, too.
A Wegmans spokesperson has confirmed the store is slated to close on July 22 at 3pm.
We did hear from one mall employee that at least one supermarket has sniffed around the space, but nothing official there.

Natick has no shortage of grocery stores with Roche Bros., ALDI and Stop & Shop, and is about to get another at Sherwood Plaza, with a possible Amazon Fresh store going into a location vacated by Barnes & Noble.
Puttshack gets
Puttshack, a teched-out indoor mini golf venue headed for Natick Mall later this year, last month received the Select Board’s blessing for an all-alcohol license to go along with its restaurant. The entertainment venue for kids and adults will open in the former American Girl doll store space and cover some 20,665 sq. ft., with a patio on the second floor.
Puttshack has opened locations in a handful of major cities, and debuted within the past year at Boston’s Seaport district, which has attracted more than 10,000 customers.
