Ground Round returns (to Shrewsbury)
Those who have been in Natick for a while or lived here or nearby years ago might recall the Ground Round restaurant that used to be located at Speen Street and Rte. 30. The casual dining venue is remembered for letting you toss peanut shells on the floor.
Ground Round filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2004 and shuttered a bunch of restaurants. But now a new one is planned to open in Shrewsbury, per the Worcester Telegram. No word on whether Ground Round will make a broader comeback.
Trading in Mercedes for Porsche
The Herb Chambers Mercedes dealership on North Main Street in Natick recently ditched town for Sudbury, but the owner has now gained permission from the town to open a Porsche dealership at the location (we’d reached out to the dealership through its website a while back to ask about such plans but never got a reply… perhaps they’re aware of my most recent vehicles and figured I’d never be a customer).
An attorney for the applicant assured the board, in response to a neighbor’s complaint about the Mercedes business, that the new dealership will not park car carriers on North Main Street. The lawyer added that this business will only have about half as many vehicles on the lot.
